I've been shying away from putting my new stuff online until I could get a final reel together....but this shot ended up on the iA Demo Reel for CTN so I feel like I may as well go ahead and drop it on here just in case anybody ever stops by to see if I ever post anything.
Here are a handful of backgrounds from a now defunct project that I was working on @ Magnetic Dreams. I was shooting for a 1950's style. Rickey Boyd did the layouts and I cleaned them up in Illustrator and painted them in photoshop. All in all I really enjoyed doing these...pretty bummed the project fell through.
Here is one of the shot's I worked on while taking part in Keith Lango's APT. He worked with me primarily on posing and making shapes flow together.
I worked on two shots, I'll try to get the other up before too long. I'm still doing some clean up on it here and there.
I really enjoyed my APT session. Having Keith go through my shot and actually show me what was working, what wasn't, and then to show me, within the scene, a couple different ways to make it better really helped.
He explained concepts and principles in a clear and applicable way and I think that I understand how to approach animating clearer now then before I took the class.
April the 18th we will celebrate 10 years of Danita's Children. I've been working with several incredible people to bring together artists from all over to use our gifts to make a difference in the world. If your going to be in the Nashville area in April, I hope that you can make it out. Not only will we showing art but we'll have live musical performances from some of Nashville's local talent.....don't miss it....it's going to be something special.
Here is a viral video that I made to promote the show. Enjoy
Elmo himself Mr. Kevin Clash came down for a visit to the studio yesterday. I've done several animations with Magnetic for Sesame Street under Kevin's direction over the last couple of years, however this was the first time that I actually got to meet him and speak with him. He was very cool and incredibly funny and just about what you would expect Elmo's "other" persona to be.
I'm an animator living in Nashville, not quite the animation mecca of the world, but I like my little niche here as it gives me time to focus on the important stuff.
Like cartoons and toys.
