Danita's Children

The Hope for Haiti Children's Center is an orphanage in Haiti that houses around 70 orphaned children, it is run by a woman named Danita. These children, before they came to live with her, were starving, neglected, abused and in some cases on the verge of death. I found out about this organization when one of the missionaries visited my wife's office (she used to work there). My wife was so moved by what these missionaries had done in Haiti that when she came home she told me we were going to do what we could.....she wasn't asking, so I couldn't say no :)

I didn't know much about Haiti until I had heard of Danita's Children. I now know that it is the only 4th world country in the western hemisphere. ( I didn't even know that there were 4th world countries)I know that sometimes starving parents have to choose which one of there children will eat that day..and which one will starve. I know that because of a failed government, a failed social structure, a failed educational system, and a failing agricultural environment...this place is has become what some of us would consider worse than hell.

I also know that some of the most beautiful people live their lives there. I have a picture of a little boy named Wooby on my refrigerator. We sponsor him with a monthly payment and a package of coloring books. There are a lot of children in Haiti, and Danita, from what I know of her, will do all that she can to feed and cloth and shelter as many children as she possibly can, which I can imagine is no easy task... this isn't a one person solution...more help is needed.

The little boy in the picture above....his name is Jameson, he has a tragic and amazing story. If you get he opportunity...please...take a few minutes to look at the website. You can read about Jameson and some of the other children that are getting the chance at life that they deserve. If you think you can help...I couldn't imagine a place where your time and/or money would be put to better use.
